Prize Garlic!

Well folks, the price just went up…lol

My garlic fetched first prize at the Ptge & District Garden Club’s annual horticulture show. I also won other prizes, but the garlic’s the one I wanted to win the most. The competition wasn’t much really, but people were really talking about that ‘big garlic’! Here’s a photo of my big winners…

More photos of other winning veg on Facebook. 🙂

Curing away

After 10 days of hanging most of the leaves are now brown, but the garlic is not finished curing yet. The crop looks nice though. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 🙂

I’m thankful to be sold out (I think), so thank you all for your continued support. I really appreciate it. I love growing garlic even though it’s a lot of work, and I love your feedback…which makes all the work worthwhile.

Main crop harvested today!

I harvested the Music and also the soft neck Montana Roja. I made 2 braids so far with the soft neck. The first one (on the right, scroll down) is my first kick-at-the-can, the second one I put more effort into, obviously.

Before harvest

Most of one row done. Time for a break!

One row 3/5 done.

Who needs weights?

Can you hear the Music?

Ready to hang up.

All strung up for curing

Thumbs up!

My first braids. 🙂

First harvest!

Today the garlic that was grown out from the rounds my dad gave me was harvested. Some are surprisingly big given that the plants looked sickly the entire time they were growing! I found a new place to hang the garlic that hopefully will work out well. The main crop will be harvested in the next week. I pulled one today and it’s huge (photo below)! This bulb is definitely the biggest garlic I’ve grown to date! woot! Hopefully the rest will be similar.

Huge!! 🙂
